College principal appointed as bishop-elect

Msgr. Mark Hagemoen to take charge of Diocese of Mackenzie-Fort Smith

The northernmost diocese in Canada will greet a new bishop soon. Pope Francis has appointed Msgr. Mark Hagemoen, principal of St. Mark’s and Corpus Christi Colleges, as bishop-elect of the Diocese of Mackenzie-Fort Smith.
“I was in Columbo, Sri Lanka, visiting their Catholic high school system (when) I was contacted by the papal nuncio,” Bishop-elect Hagemoen recalled.
The phone call came at the end of September and left the clergyman “a bit speechless.”
