One Day Without Shoes
Holy Cross Regional Secondary students in Surrey challenged each other to giving up wearing shoes for one day in solidarity with children in developing countries who are at risk from contracting podoconiosis, a disease that causes pain, swelling, and other disfiguration due to prolonged exposure to irritant soil. The students learned about the disease and put together information on how to help through Toms Shoes, a company that donates shoes to a needy child for every pair of shoes they sell. Take a look at the YouTube video the students made of the April 5 event.
