Rona Ambrose receives praise from enthusiasts

In a show of camaraderie, many thousands of Canadians have
shown an outpouring of respect for the Minister for Staus of Women,
Rona Ambrose.
Recently, Ms. Ambrose has suffered an influx of negative press from opponents
and critics after voting in favour of
Motion 312, a motion to define the moment
a fetus becomes a human being. The resulting criticisms have created a divide
between many Canadians.
Mike Schouten, director of
WeNeedaLaw.ca, has shown his
appreciation and support for Ms. Ambrose since her vote: “Minister Ambrose is a
respected woman and cabinet minister who obviously made a decision based on her
conscience and the will of the people in her riding of Edmonton-Spruce Grove. [She]
has stood up for equality many times and made it clear that unfair
discrimination against females is a matter of great concern to her.”
WeNeedaLaw.ca is campaigning for legislation regarding abortions.
Although the media has taken a radical stance on Ms.
Ambrose’s vote, the social media support has resulted in an expression of
deserved appreciation and admiration for the minister and her hard work as
Minister for Status of Women. Schouten notes that, “Canadians can be sure that
the extremism of a few so-called-feminists who refuse to debate fundamental
issues and who vilify anyone who does, do not speak for the majority and I’m
greatly encouraged that tens of thousands of women and men are expressing
support for Minister Ambrose.”
The conversation on life before birth continues to engage
the citizens of Canada.

He addressed their difference of opinion on the topic of
abortion and challenged Arthur, “I would welcome your support for a
Parliamentary initiative to enshrine in Canadian law the equal and inherent
worth and dignity of every human being, should you wish to offer it.”
Woodworth is well known for creating
Motion 312, an
application
seeking to classify the moment a fetus
becomes a human being. The motion was defeated last month, though a majority of the Conservative Party voted in favour of it.
With reference to women’s
rights, he wrote, “I believe the most progressive view is that no one’s
rights are advanced a refusal to acknowledge the equal and inherent dignity and
worth of any other human being” and ended with, “I wish I could convince you of
the merits of that principle.”
This letter continues the debate on women’s rights
concerning abortion in Canada.

Mark Warawa pushes to have sex-selective abortion made illegal

Conservative MP
Mark Warawa recently introduced
Motion 408 to Parliament, calling to have sex-selective abortion made illegal for Canadian women.
After the defeat of
Motion 312 the day prior, a proposal that sought to redefine the moment a fetus becomes a human being, Warawa took a stand against the prevalence of female-feticide in Canada. In a statement released on Friday he noted, “92% of Canadians believe sex-selective pregnancy termination should be illegal.”

supports the need for the criminalization of sex-selective abortion. "(It) violates the high standard of human rights Canada is known for upholding and it’s appropriate for Parliamentarians to condemn this misogynistic practice." WeNeedaLaw.ca is a Langley-based organization that advocates the need for some form of gestational legislation regarding abortion.
Schouten added that many studies have been conducted on the prevalence of this practice. Some studies have shown that it is more common with some immigrant communities.
“The Canadian Medical Association found that many more boys than girls are being born in some Canadian ethnic communities. They found that by the time a third child was born the male-to-female ratio for Indian-born mothers was as high as 136 boys for every 100 girls,” said Schouten.
An inspection of these findings led to an
investigation by the CBC that aired in June. The study found that many women were abused and subsequently pressured into having an abortion if the sex of the pre-born child was found unfavourable.
Schouten says many Canadians recognize the need for federal abortion legislation and will support Warawa in his pursuit of Motion 408.

Several members of the Surrey-Delta Pro-life Society will be informing drivers and passers-by of the horrors of abortion. The society is holding the Life Chain event at two locations near the King George skytrain station.
The first will be held at 104th Avenue and King George, the other at Holland Park Corner (100th Avenue and King George).
