New York woman skips chemotherapy to save baby

Mother dies two months after daughter's birth

When New York City resident Elizabeth Joice, 36, found out she was pregnant, she put the life of her baby before cancer treatments.
“Having a kid was one of the most important things in the world to her,” her husband Max told The New York Post. “She said, ‘If we terminate the pregnancy and it turns out I can’t have a baby [later], I’ll be devastated.’ She knew this might be her only chance.”
Elizabeth refused abortion and chemotherapy. Lily was born by C-section this January and her courageous mom died two months later.

    Elizabeth had to make a choice between two lives. Hers - she had her cancer return during her pregnancy, and the baby's. No where in the article that I could see was her husband's opinion about if he wanted to have his wife die rather quickly by denying herself needed cancer treatment or if he wanted what she wanted which was to have the baby at all costs. The article also omitted what the baby's chances were of being a normal healthy baby, even if born prematurely. Because of these unknowns, I think Elizabeth made the wrong decision and should have tried
    her best with the cancer treatments which already worked in her favour.
