Catholic Church credited in helping to uncover residential school abuses

Commission releases interim report
Northwest Territories MLA Jackson Lafferty said residential schools cost aboriginals their identities.
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission released their interim report recently which uncovered some sad, yet powerful tales of the residential school system in Canada:

A sad chapter of Canadian history began to close with the release of the much anticipated interim report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
The commission, comprised of Justice Murray Sinclair, Chief Wilton Littlechild, and Marie Wilson, released the report Feb. 24 in Vancouver. The report details the experiences of aboriginals in residential schools.
"Now Canadians will never be able to say, 'I didn't know,'" Wilson said.
