70 years ago today in The B.C. Catholic...

The invasion of Poland on September 1, 1939 marked the beginning of World War II. Before the war, Pope Pius made appeals for peace and urged continued prayers "saying he could not find it in his heart to abandon hope for peace."

The Pope's appeal for peace was published in the September 2, 1939 issue of The B.C. Catholic (“Vicar of ‘Prince of Peace’ Broadcasts Peace Plea”):
