A survey of 300 people in the Ottawa archdiocese found that parishioners appreciate the availability of online information through websites and social media. Deborah Gyapong reports:
Archbishop Terrence Prendergast has his own Twitter (@archterentius) and Facebook accounts, in addition to his blog. He manages them himself, said communications officer Sarah Du Broy, noting the blog was started before she came on board.
Prendergast tweets several times a day in addition to his blog posts, which used to be daily but may become less frequent now that he’s tweeting.

“I’m really happy we have an active bishop,” Du Broy added. “He opened his blog to connect with the youth. He’s connecting to the whole diocese. Everyone appreciates that he is so accessible.”
