Assisted suicide advocate Gloria Taylor dies

Kelowna woman was plaintiff in B.C. Supreme Court ruling

The woman who became the first Canadian to legally have an exemption to the ban on physician-assisted suicide died from natural causes Oct. 4. Gloria Taylor was 64 and suffered from Lou Gehrig's disease.

She was one of the plaintiffs in the recent B.C. Supreme Court case which challenged the Criminal Code's prohibition on physician-assisted suicide.  The federal government has announced plans to appeal the ruling.
