Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation revamps grant criteria to help abortion providing organization

Well that was short. It seems as soon as the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation announced plans to defund Planned Parenthood, they just as quickly reversed their decision.

“We want to apologize to the American public for recent decisions that cast doubt upon our commitment to our mission of saving women’s lives,” the Komen foundation announced in a statement Friday morning.

The Komen foundation, America's leading breast cancer charity, initially pulled its funding because Planned Parenthood was under investigation from the U.S. Congress. The House was investigating on how the abortion organization was funded by the government. Komen's funding criteria disqualifies grants to organizations under criminal investigation

After many complaints from its corporate partners, Komen with its tail between its legs revised its funding criteria.

The revised criteria now states; "disqualifying investigations must be criminal and conclusive in nature and not political. That is what is right and fair."

“We are enormously grateful that the Komen Foundation has clarified its grantmaking criteria, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with Komen partners, leaders and volunteers,” a celebrating Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards said in a statement.
